It is my distinct pleasure to introduce you all to a shining example of hypocrisy and irony and the NEW mascot of Hypocritical Irony. You know him! You love him! You get figuratively fucked in the ass by him every time he enters the House of Representatives! It's the one! The only! Charrrrlieeeee Raaaaaangeeellll!!
The problem is that this lack of integrity is especially disconcerting from men and women that are entrusted to represent the rest of us and look out for our best interests. Instead, what are looked after are special interests. It's agendas over, well, agendas. Posturing over progress. Ideology over integrity. The way our government behaves as it grows larger by the day is a bastardization of what it should be. Without trudging into a Founding Father's rant, the Federal Government was intended to serve the people by wielding as little influence as was necessary. It was not supposed to become a self-filating collection of beurocrats who assume that they know better than everyone else.
I'd like to wrap up with a little shit talking on Nancy Pelosi. It's cold and rainy today, you see, and that just kind of warms me up a little bit. Uncle Charlie took a temporary leave of absense from his position on the Ways and Means Committee pending the results of an investigation by the House Ethics Committee and Pelosi had this to say in a statement:
“Chairman Charlie Rangel has informed me of his request for a leave of absence from his duties and responsibilities as Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means. I will honor his request.
"I commend Chairman Rangel for his decades of leadership on jobs, health care, and the most significant economic issues of the day.”
Whooooo boy. Alright, now you listen up you harpy bitch. Let's cut the shit and pretend for a few moments that you are not a self serving whore to liberal America with absolutely no grasp for the realities of our country today. I know. It's a stretch. But let's pretend. How dare you sugar coat the fact that one of the senior members of your party is being disgraced and essentially forced to resign due to potentially unethical and illegal activities he engaged in. It's not like he's got a sick spouse or child and needs time to focus on his family. He's doing it because he's about to get cornholed in the media and by his political opposition. And what the fuck is that about commending him for decades of leadership? How about you sack up and tell the truth? It could be something like this: "I commend Chairman Rangel for his decades of leadership, but due to recent revelations, it is in his and our party's best interest for him to GTFO and not let the door hit him."
The complete lack of acknowledgement by Pelosi regarding the the circumstances that lead to Rangel's resignation is a perfect example of the self-serving nature of our politicians. How dare they look down on us as if we are not smart enough to see through the charade. I suppose, though, that the real tragedy is that there are so many who can't.
--UPDATE!!--
Well wasn't that just a shining example of conservative hypocrisy I dreamed up yesterday?
