I go on psychotic rants about random shit on a regular basis. A lot of times these rants revolve around selfish people who think that they are way more important than they actually are. Naturally I decided to post these rants in a blog for everyone to see because I think that I am way more important than I actually am. Expect low brow commentary on any and everything with a liberal use of the word douchebag. And lots of commas. Lots and lots of commas.

A commercial at the All Star game made me think that...

maybe Bono isn't as big of a douchebag as I thought. (The fact that he uses one name and is friends with someone named "The Edge" not withstanding.)

The problem with people like Sean Hannity and Keith Olberman is that they don’t pick an issue. They pick a side. With them, it doesn’t matter what the actual conversation is about. It is, instead, more about how they can further their own agenda while supporting a particular side of that conversation.

I think that if you have a sound mind and don’t get irresponsibly wrapped up in ideology, that you can use your head and, arguably, your heart, (along with considerable financial resources should you have them) to take a reasonable stance on an issue and try to affect positive change.

For a long time I hated Bono. I still think U2 blows [ducks bottle thrown at head] but the more I think about it I guess I just kind of resented that Bono was a rock star and therefore got to have an audience with people like the president and the Pope. Why the fuck not me? Old Benedict, I’m sure, would love to hear my thoughts on bumper stickers! But the more I think about it the more I realize that Bono is just a good dude. He doesn’t bother anyone with pretentious “look at me” displays to support his causes. Instead he just goes about his business being a decent human being.

But he still fronts one of the most overrated bands of all time.

For those of you keeping score at home:
Good- Bono, George Clooney, Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie
Bad- Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn
