Shit.
I hoped that I would never have to write about how MSNBC's Keith Olberman was the only person on the television with any integrity. (Even if was only an hour on a random Tuesday evening.) He was the only broadcaster on a station between CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, Headline News and FOX News that did not focus his entire 10 o’clock broadcasting hour to Michael Jackson. Of course he was, for the 3 minutes I could stomach listening to him at least, focusing on how shitty Sarah Palin is. But that’s at least a marginally more important story than an entertainer dying.
Everyone at the event wore sunglasses. It was inside. It was dark. And they were wearing sunglasses. Do you know why? Because no one that was there was actually crying. That atrocity was basically just the place to be seen yesterday. Really? The Kardashian's and MJ were tight? Please. Even the speeches were contrived and insulting. Really Magic? Michael Jackson made you a better basketball player? Blow me. And you know what? Fuck you too because if you weren't there then I wouldn't have had to see it on ESPN too.

I am so angry that I am even writing about this. I am disgusted that an entire nation was taken hostage by a celebrity and now I find myself in the terribly hypocritical stance that says I despise the people that obsess about him but then find myself as one of those people at the same time
Ugh, even Keith fucking Olberman could go without talking about it. Really? His show is the one that says maybe someone with “credibility” or a “show on a 24 hour news network” can actually ignore a story that is completely irrelevant outside of the world of entertainment and especially within the context of major world events going on concurrently.
It really doesn’t even matter at this point that he probably insisted on not covering Jackson because as soon as people looking for news realize he is the only person who is not jocking a dead man, THEY WILL WATCH…. I almost did. For a few minutes anyway. Just because I was glad to turn on a news channel and not see Jacko.
That’s the point. He did it to be different. He knew people would notice. He’s a dick. But it was a smart idea. Good for him. Maybe it was a producer? Or the channel? Who knows. But the infuriating thing is that he was the one with some journalistic integrity.
Fuck that guy.
His casket was gold. His brothers wore gold ties. ALMOST the entire country wept for a pedophile asshole. HE TOUCHED KIDS!!! (Allegedly) I watched, on NBC, when they showed a graphic comparing him to Elvis and Princess Dianna of Wales. Celebrities of course, but Jacko and Presley were ultimately men who succumbed to excesses that they sought out along with their fame while Dianna was killed by the flashes of photographers. Of course Dianna, you could argue, sought fame... you know... by, uh, being one of the best ambassadors for humanitarian acts in the last, uh, ever. Yeah, so there was that.

Lets talk about Debbie Rowe and Catherine Jackson. They are both looking for money. I don't doubt that. Every single person except for the children of Michael Jackson is a vulture, along with the people who insist on reporting on this. Except, of course, for Olberman. Pardon me while I vomit.
I can only hope that the people who considered themselves serious reporters last week, and then agreed to report on his death this week… all week… take a moment to reflect on what was going on in the world while they were busy drooling over a needlessly sensational story.

Except for Olberman. He was not covering it.
Fuck.
The way the Jackson family put on another show around this whole thing should make them ashamed too. They cried and sang and showed up and hugged and once again exploited their famous brother. He was the first one who died. No wonder. He was ridden as a show pony for his entire life. Maybe it’s fitting that he was exploited right up until the moment his body was interred.
Fuck.

Except by Olberman.
Fuck.
Oh, and one more thing. One of the most famous scenes from yesterday will be his “daughter” crying into the microphone about how much she loved and will miss her father. Yeah, it was as her family was more concerned with trying to force out tears and putting the microphone into an acoustically convenient location instead of comforting her. Fuck them.
Uh, and Olberman.
MJ was innocent!
