"This is not a decision that I would have made," Paterson said when asked about the upcoming federal trial. "Our country was attacked on its own soil on Sept. 11, 2001, and New York was very much the epicenter of that attack."
Paterson, of course you'll remember, has exhibited fantastic decision making skills in the past. Like having affairs. Oh, and the drug use too. Why in the hell would the governor not be interested in trying these douche bags mere blocks away from the scene of the crime? He claims that New Yorkers are still trying to get over the attacks and that he is concerned that ground zero has not even been rebuilt yet. Oh really governor? I would think that maybe what you should be interested in is not ground zero but instead closure for the citizens whom you are so concerned with.
The ONLY reason that an argument could be made not to bring those bastards back to New York is that they would not be subject to capital punishment. Those pussies in New York ruled it unconstitutional in 2004. I am a proponent of capital punishment. If you kill someone, I think you should get killed back. But these guys, I'd like them to spend a few nights in the general population of a New York State Penitentiary. Let the rest of the scumbags behind bars mete out the punishment that they deserve but the state cannot apply.
Now, I am not a huge fan of NYC. I hate their sports teams. I hate having to listen to the posturing of residents refer to it as "The City" or "The Only City." We get it, it's big and important, but that doesn't mean you have to be a douche about it. New Yorkers often times ooze pretension and have an astoundingly bloated sense of importance because they happened to be born in a particular geographic location. That being said, the events of 9/11 were catastrophic on a national level but literally hit home for New Yorkers. Therefore, they should get to string up Mohammed and his buddies and beat them with sticks if that's what they care to do.
I think the only thing I'm worried about is the money that's going to be needed to be spent on keeping the hundreds if not thousands of people under control inside and outside of that court room.
ReplyDeleteIf LA's broke ass can spend $3.5M on that freak Jacko's funeral procession then NYC can fork up some cash for the trial.
