Thanksgiving is the shit. There are no religious expectations. There is a ton of good food and it is perfectly acceptable to ply yourself full of said food and booze. Then you just lay around and watch football. It is one of my favorite days of the year. It is important, however, to remember that it is, in fact, a day to give thanks. I like to complain. Like, a lot. I know you're shocked to read that, but the fact of the matter is, that even though one of my favorite past times is to bitch and moan about stupid shit I also have lots of things to be thankful for.
I live in a nice house. I have a wonderful fiance and soon to be step daughter. I have a family that loves me, which is a small effing miracle in and of itself. I'm employed. I usually like my job. And I have great friends to share everything with. It's important not to take those things for granted as not everyone is so fortunate. Not everyone has a loving family and great friends and a comfortable place to lay their head at night. So this holiday, take time to be thankful for what you have and share it with those you care about. At least until Friday when you rip some poor ass hole's balls off at the mall because they got the last copy of Beatles Rock Band.
Have a great holiday and check back next week when I promise to be my normal, cantankerous, sarcastic, crude, boorish self, probably bitching about spending two straight days with those people I just said I was thankful for.
