Pictured above is the former disappointment at wide receiver for the Saints, Eagles and Patriots, current inmate of the Florida correctional system and future disappointment for the Cleveland Browns, Donte Stallworth. In his promising but so far lackluster professional career Stallworth has battled inconsistent play, injuries and Miami, FL pedestrians. The latter being Mario Reyes whom Stallworth killed when he ran him down in his Bentley this past March.
What I will assume with no reason to or proof is that Stallworth was out celebrating the fact that a Browns team desperate to see the post season for the first time since 2002 decided to sign an injury prone, under performing Stallworth to a 7 year $35 million contract well into the night before mowing down Reyes in the early morning hours. It was either that or he was doing his best to help his new team wrest the label of biggest asshole criminal employing franchise in the state of Ohio away from Cincinnati. Oh yeah, he was still drunk from the night before.
In his police statement, this asshole's excuse was that he honked his horn and flashed his high beams at Reyes to warn him that he was bearing down on him in a fucking CAR but Reyes didn't get out of the way. (Really it was his fault though, he shouldn't have been so tired from working the graveyard shift to help support his family. PLUS he was jay-walking!) This was shocking to me because while I have never ridden in a Bentley before I assume that the breaks are not located anywhere near the headlights and horn. Having ridden in automobiles before though, I am quite aware that the mechanisms to make the vehicle stop before running someone the fuck over are located right under your feet.
So the important facts so far are that Stallworth was drinking and driving. He killed a guy with his car. And his attempt to not hurt anyone was the flash his high beams. That hurts my head.
After filing a guilty plea Stallworth has now been sentenced to 30 days in jail. Wait, that can't be right. Let me just double... Oh. My. God. He fucking killed someone and his punishment is 30 days in jail, 10 years of probation and a lifetime suspension of his driver's license? And as a condition of his plea he will be able to continue pursuing his career as a professional football player earning millions of dollars. Pardon me while I puke up my lunch.
Michael Vick just spent more time in prison and lost his fortune and career for fighting DOGS! Relax PETA, I'm not saying what Vick did wasn't bad so you can just calm the fuck down right now. But let's think about this logically here. Stallworth killed a living breathing person. A person with a family and friends. He is losing 30 days of freedom and the next two terrible things he has to do are not kill anyone for 10 years and hire a driver with his millions which he should have fucking done anyway. Vick is going to be laying asphalt while buried under millions of dollars of debt. What the fuck is wrong with our legal system that a man that kills a dog is ruined, but a man who kills another man is basically just inconvenienced for a while? I'm not even saying Vick's punishment is unfair. He killed dogs. Fuck that guy. But what I am saying is that Stallworth should be standing right next to him in the unemployment line.
Seriously, what the fuck?
